Turning grey to green (and saving water)

August 3, 2022

We can take a variety of steps to re-use water, in the absence of much needed rain. Washing up water and other “grey” water can be poured onto outdoor plants instead of down the sink. Before you get into the shower, and while you wait for the water to run warm, you can collect the water in a washing up bowl placed under the showerhead. You’ll be surprised how much you collect in just 30 seconds. This clean water can then go on the garden. And a shorter shower helps save water too. For other ideas, take a look at the Water section of our Environment page.
