Woodside Community Allotment

Woodside Community Allotment (Woodside Road, Amersham) is a managed site run in partnership with Amersham in Bloom, Discovery Sprouts and Joley Makes.

The original plot comprised a wildlife pond, dead hedge, dead fence, accessible planters and flooring, and numerous areas for growing and encouraging biodiversity. Stony Dean School, Alfriston School and Woodside Junior School were pivotal in the development of this site.

This year, we moved to a much larger corner plot which has been developed with the help of Stony Dean School, Amersham Town Council grounds team, Little Bloomers, Spud Club, Woodside School, Bloom volunteers, Bloom & Brew attendees, Home Ed families, and a Duke of Edinburgh volunteer. A polytunnel and wheelchair accessible flooring has been funded by the National Garden Scheme. An additional grant was awarded by the National Lottery to complete the accessible flooring.

Please note: we’re currently working to make the site wheelchair accessible. While the majority of the flooring on the plot is complete, we do not yet have access from the car park. This is in progress.

While it is a community allotment, it is on private land and not freely accessible to the public. Attendance is arranged on prior agreement. We run a number of managed sessions, as follows:

Spud Club

Spud Club is a term-time gardening club for children aged 4 and under. Sessions run on Mondays 9.30-10.30, and can be booked at www.bookwhen.com/amershaminbloom or below.

Gather & Grow Home Ed sessions

A session for home educated children & teens with an accompanying adult. Activities will be seasonal and/or interest-led with ample learning and creative opportunities. Please book at www.bookwhen.com/amershaminbloom or below.

Little Bloomers

Little Bloomers is an environmental group for nature-loving children (and their families/carers). Throughout the year, Little Bloomers meet at weekends to undertake seasonal activities around Amersham, from sowing and planting to litter picking and ‘Citizen Science’. [Note: Car parking is for allotment holders only, with some exceptions, e.g. school minibuses, wheelchair users. Please park on nearby roads (check parking restrictions), or at the Chilterns Lifestyle Centre which is a 5-minuite walk away.]

Bloom & Brew coffee mornings

New for 2026, our Bloom & Brew coffee mornings will run on Tuesdays 9.30-11 (term time only). These sessions are open to anybody who wants to enjoy the fresh air, have a good natter and a brew, and likes to get stuck in! No need to book, just drop in. Schools/nurseries/community groups

If you would like us to run some sessions for your school, nursery or community group, please get in touch. We are particularly keen to support those with additional needs and children who struggle in classroom environments.
