Mayor Presents Certificate To Chiltern Foodbank

May 17, 2023

Town Mayor, Cllr Mark Roberts was pleased to visit Chiltern Foodbank on Tuesday, as he nears the end of his term of office.  This year the Chiltern Foodbank has been the Mayor’s Charity and he was able to present a certificate representing nearly £5,000, that being the proceeds of the Mayor’s Fund for 2022/2023.  Cllr Roberts was pleased to meet some of the volunteers and hand over the certificate to Foodbank Chair Lou Webber and Coordinator Diane Rutter.

The Chiltern Foodbank is linked to the Trussell Trust and supports families in crisis across the whole of the Chilterns area.  As the Mayor said at the beginning of the year:

“The foodbank’s aim is to ensure that nobody should face the anxiety of going hungry and that’s exactly what they do, by providing emergency food supplies to local people referred by partners and agencies. It is astonishing that this kind of support is needed in our area but when people in a community are in need then I am glad that our community helps out.”
