Local Recycling Scheme
We would like to update you on the recycling scheme that ATC help with. Together with the charity MedictoMedic ATC have collection points for recycling for the following items:
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes – SpecSavers
- All plastic pens and felt tips, Make-up and Pringle Tubes – St Michaels and all Angels Church
- Marigold gloves and Ferrero Rocher boxes – Amersham Post Office
Over the last three years we have been successful in not only recycling the above items, which would otherwise be disposed of as domestic waste, but also in raising money for MedictoMedic, a charity which raises money to train healthcare workers in Malawi.
Unfortunately, we must inform you about the end of two of these recycling schemes. Colgate which was part of the toothpaste scheme, no longer recycles the tubes as they now make a recycled toothpaste tube, while the scheme to collect and recycle plastic based writing implements is ending. Over the years 400kgs has been collected by Amersham residents, avoiding their disposal as waste and raising £400.
We are very disappointed by the ending of two very successful recycling schemes. We would like to THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your support with these recycling schemes, but we can no longer accept plastic writing implements and toothpaste tubes.
We are STILL collecting TOOTHBRUSHES (electric heads and ordinary ones), USED MAKE-UP, PRINGLE TUBES, MARIGOLD RUBBER GLOVES and FERRERO ROCHER BOXES, so please do continue to recycle these.
