Sunday 24th August – RAF Squadronaires in Concert
We are delighted to welcome the legendary Royal Air Force Squadronaires to Amersham for their first-ever performance in our Memorial Gardens. Formed in 1939, the Squadronaires became one of the most celebrated big bands of the wartime era, entertaining troops and boosting morale with their signature swing sound. Over the decades, they have continued to perform around the world, combining musical excellence with the proud traditions of the Royal Air Force.
From 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm, they will provide an unforgettable afternoon of live music in the wonderful surrounding of the Memorial Gardens.
Prior to the concert, at 2:15 pm, members of the Royal British Legion — including the President of the Amersham Branch, the National Chair, and Mr Bill Morris LVO, Buckinghamshire’s Deputy Lieutenant — will be joined by Rev’d Michelle Fortherby and the Town Mayor for a commemorative service in the gardens. This will include wreath laying, the Exhortation, and a blessing, ensuring that the day is not only a celebration but also a fitting tribute to all who served in the Second World War.
