🌸 Amersham Named Best Town at RHS Britain in Bloom National Finals!
Amersham is once again blooming with pride! We are delighted to announce that our town has been crowned Best Town at the 2025 RHS Britain in Bloom National Awards, held in Brighton on Friday.
Not only did Amersham achieve a Gold Award, but we were also presented with the Judges’ Award for Community — a special recognition of our inclusive approach and the way our initiatives bring together residents of all ages.
Representing the RHS Thames and Chilterns in Bloom region, Amersham competed against other outstanding towns from across the UK, including Brandon, Alnwick, and Abergavenny. Remarkably, this is the second time in three years (the last being in 2022) that Amersham has been named Best Town — a rare achievement that we believe hasn’t been accomplished since the turn of the century.
The Judges’ Award for Community was the icing on the cake, highlighting the incredible teamwork, creativity, and dedication that underpin all our projects.
This success truly belongs to everyone who has supported our efforts — from volunteers and schools to local businesses and community groups. On behalf of the Town Council, heartfelt thanks go to our dedicated volunteers, the leaders of 1st Chesham Bois Scout Group, the waste team at Buckinghamshire Council, Veolia, the Spud Club volunteers, and Stony Dean School for their invaluable support to the Town Council team.
We would also to thank the the many businesses and organisations who continue to champion our community spirit — including Savills Amersham, TaxAssist Accountants, Barnett Waddingham, Kings Chapel, The Amersham Polish Foundation, Amersham Dec, the Amersham and District Residents Association, The Griffin Bistro & Club, Paradigm Housing Group, and the Amersham Action Group.
RHS Britain in Bloom Judges Roger Burnett and Ian Beany, who assessed the town in August praised Amersham’s exceptional standard, commenting; “Blending strong horticultural flair with artistic talent in both painting and sculpture, displays of high quality were to be found on every corner. Biodiversity was everywhere and was the centrepiece — not just an afterthought. The combination of perennial and annual planting at the Memorial Gardens, interspersed with architectural and planted features, makes this area a jewel in the crown. A high level of volunteering demonstrated the care and pride that the community have in the place they live.”
While awards inspire us, it’s our shared commitment to making Amersham greener, more vibrant, and more welcoming that truly drives us forward.
