2026 Amersham Town Council Community Awards

Following the Annual Town Meeting last night, the 2026 Amersham Town Council Community Awards were presented by Town Mayor, Simon Woodhead, at Amersham Free Church.

This year saw a record number of nominations, highlighting just how many people in our community are making a real difference. Choosing the winners was no easy task, with every nominee truly deserving recognition.

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients:

🌟 Community Champion – Linda Gould

A dedicated trustee at Amersham Museum, Linda has given over 13 years of service, including her recent role as Volunteer Co-ordinator.

πŸ… Mayor’s Special Award – Keith Edlin

Recognised for his ongoing service to both the local community and beyond, including his work with the Royal British Legion.

πŸ“š Education Support & Inspiration Award (Joint Winners)

Julie Hills – celebrating over 20 years as headteacher at St Mary’s CofE Primary School.

Gareth Kirmond – recognised for over a decade of partnership work with Stony Dean School, helping students contribute to the community through hands-on projects.

🌿 Environment & Heritage Champions – David and Julia Goodwin

For their long-standing dedication to the medicinal garden at Amersham Museum since 1991.

🀝 Working with Charity Award – Sheila Hodgkins

Honoured for her commitment to Sustainable Amersham.

πŸ’š Health & Wellbeing Award – Chiltern u3a

Supporting learning, friendship and active lifestyles for 26 years, with over 1,500 members and more than 100 interest groups.

It was a lovely ceremony, made even more special by hearing from each of the recipients as they collected their awards. Congratulations to everyone involvedβ€”and thank you for everything you do to support the Amersham community.
