April 25, 2025

Sunday 4th May
To begin our commemorations, The RAF Halton Area Voluntary Band will be performing in the Memorial Gardens from 2:30pm.

Enjoy a selection of WWII-era music, including We’ll Meet Again and Land of Hope and Glory. The event will conclude around 4:30pm with a short service led by the Royal British Legion.

Thursday 8th May
At 9:00am, we will raise the official VE Commemorative Flag in the Memorial Gardens, in remembrance of the sacrifices made during WWII.

Then at 9:30pm the path in the Memorial Gardens will be lit with 80 tea lights, joining over 1,000 beacons and hundreds of Lamp Lights of Peace across the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. These flames will shine as symbols of the peace that followed the darkness of war.

Around Town
Keep an eye out for VE Day bunting and the 20 flags soon to line Sycamore Road and Hill Avenue, celebrating this important anniversary.

And look for the blooming wildflower borders throughout Amersham! We’re increasing them by 10% this year, enhancing our pollinator corridor and honouring VE Day with biodiversity, and sustainability.
