Amersham Town Council is proud to provide Christmas lights in Old Amersham and Amersham-on-the-Hill. The Town Council also arrange the Mayor’s Annual Community Carol Concert. The wonderful evening features performances by local schools and bands. Members of the public are welcome to attend and join us for the festivities. We are proud to assist with a number of other activities in the town.

The Town Council also arrange a Christmas tree recycling service for residents of Amersham and surrounding areas (Little Chalfont, Coleshill, Winchmore Hill and Chesham Bois). For a donation, trees are collected from your doorstep and recycled as mulch for new tree saplings at Willow Wood and compost for the Town Council allotments. All donations received go towards our Amersham in Bloom initiative.

Old Amersham Christmas Festival Returns – Friday 5th December, 4–8pm

It’s that time of year again – the Old Amersham Christmas Festival is back, and it’s set to be even bigger and brighter than before.

Following the huge success of last year’s new-look event, which drew over 5,000 visitors, the 2025 Festival promises an unforgettable evening of festive cheer in the heart of Old Amersham. Taking place on Friday 5th December from 4–8pm, the historic Old Town will be transformed into a winter wonderland of late-night shopping, live entertainment, and seasonal delights.

What to Expect:

  • Live music from The Amersham Band, Rock Choir and Barbershop Quartet
  • Late-night shopping with exclusive one-night-only offers from local shops and boutiques
  • Artisan stalls at Cooper’s Market, perfect for unique Christmas gifts
  • Delicious food and drink, from mulled wine to festive treats offered by local cafes, pubs and restaurants

The town will sparkle under festive lights, with the Christmas tree switch-on at 6pm. Children can meet Father Christmas and his real-life reindeer, while a vintage fairground brings fun for the whole family, with a traditional ferris wheel and swing boats.

The event is more than just a celebration – it’s a chance for the community to come together. A torchlight procession with pupils from St Mary’s Primary School will lead from the church to the tree, followed by carols and festive cheer.

This year’s charity partner is Scannappeal, who will be running their popular Golden Tombola and offering a warm welcome with hot chocolate in the Market Hall.

Whether you’re shopping for gifts, soaking in the atmosphere, or simply enjoying a night out with family and friends, the Old Amersham Christmas Festival is not to be missed. Save the date and experience the town at its most magical.
